Reflexology is the application of pressure, stretch, rotation, flexion and massage to the feet or hands to affect corresponding parts of the body and to activate body’s self healing ability. Reflexologists view the feet and hands as a mirror image of the body. Certain areas of the feet correspond to different areas within the body. The toes, for example, relate to the head and neck area of the body.
By working on specific reflex points, patterns of stress in other parts of the body can be released. It is very important to our health to rid the body of waste products and toxins. A build-up of toxins and waste can make our bodies sluggish, constipated, bloated or even sick. The energy stagnates, and the body is struggling to work efficiently.
Reflexology helps releasing these blockages and congestion, relieves stress, helps improving lymph and blood flow and aids detoxification. The therapy also promotes the production of endorphins, giving us an overall sense of well-being. It brings balance to body, mind and spirit. Reflexology stimulates nerve endings and may help to release pain and relax muscles.
